Celebrating Malina MacLeod, MBE

We are incredibly proud that our Care Assistant Malina MacLeod, has been awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) by His Majesty King Charles III  for her outstanding public service and dedication to the wellbeing of others.

Mrs. Malina MacLeod has dedicated over 60 years to a remarkable career in nursing and social care. As the former Matron of Lochmaddy Hospital and Manager of Lochmaddy, Daliburgh and St Brendan’s hospitals for many years, she played a vital role in healthcare in the Uists. She went on to become the first Deputy Manager of the Uist and Barra Hospital in Benbecula when it opened that same year, bringing her wealth of experience to the community.

Since her retirement from nursing and hospital management, Malina’s dedication has only grown. Her continued commitment and service to the North Uist community has been outstanding. As a highly valued home-carer with Tagsa Uibhist, Malina is known for her compassion, reliability and exceptional care she provides.

We are also honoured that Malina’s granddaughter, Kirsty MacDonald, carries forward this family legacy of care. Kirsty works as a Care Coordinator with Tagsa Uibhist, supporting individuals across North Uist, South Uist, and Benbecula with the same dedication and compassion that have defined her grandmother’s long and remarkable career.

Receiving an MBE is a rare and well-deserved honour, and we are overjoyed that Malina’s decades of hard work and selflessness have been recognised at the highest level.

Her dedication reflects the very heart of our mission, and we couldn’t be prouder to have her—and Kirsty—as part of our team.
